This adaptation, a collaboration between Amazon and Toei, has stirred excitement with the unveiling of its first trailer and the announcement of its release dates. The Oshi no Ko TV series is scheduled to premiere on 28 November 2024, exclusively on Amazon Prime Video, followed by the movie's release in Japanese cinemas on 20 December 2024.

The trailer showcases an impressive cast featuring Kaito Sakurai as Aqua Hoshino, Asuka Saito as Ai Hoshino, Nagisa Saito as Ruby Hoshino, Nanoka Hara as Kana Arima, Mizuki Kayashima as Akane Kurokawa, and Ano as Mem-cho. These actors bring to life the beloved characters from the manga, adding a fresh perspective to the story that has captivated both readers and anime watchers.

The production, which has been in progress for over two years, sees Amazon distributing the series globally while Toei handles the movie's launch in Japan. Although manga artist Mengo Yokoyari is not involved due to other projects, author Aka Akasaka has expressed his enthusiasm about the adaptation's approach to the story. Ryusuke Imoto, the leading planner and producer from Toei, has shared his feelings of both excitement and pressure, highlighting his hope that the adaptation will connect with audiences around the world. The project also includes Smith as the director, with Hana Matsumoto co-directing the TV series, Ayako Kitagawa writing the script, and music composed by fox capture plan.

The promotional video and teaser visual give fans a tantalising preview of what to expect. The teaser visual creatively integrates social media posts from fans of the fictional celebrities, providing a unique way to introduce the characters. The promotional video features scenes from past B-Komachi concerts led by Ai Hoshino and introduces key characters such as Aqua, Ruby, Kana, Mem-cho, and Akane. Notably, it also shows the dramatic scene of Ai Hoshino's death, a crucial moment in the narrative.

Oshi no Ko tells the story of Aqua and Ruby Hoshino, the twin children of the late idol Ai Hoshino, who was killed by an obsessed fan. In a surprising twist, both Aqua and Ruby are reincarnations of Ai's fans who had died before being reborn as her children. The manga is acclaimed for its intriguing plot and deep emotional themes, which the live-action adaptation aims to capture faithfully.

As excitement mounts, fans can look forward to seeing their favourite characters brought to life in a new and vibrant way. The end of 2024 is set to be an exciting period for Oshi no Ko fans, with the TV series launching on Prime Video and the movie following in theatres. The dedicated production team and carefully selected cast aim to deliver an adaptation that respects the original work while bringing its own unique style.
