Set against the backdrop of Tokyo's Takadanobaba district, "Fureru." explores the lives of three childhood friends who reunite as young adults, united by a mysterious creature. This urban setting marks a departure from the Chichibu backdrop of the team's previous works, which holds personal significance as Mari Okada's hometown.

The film's main characters, all aged 20, bring diverse personalities and life paths to the narrative. Ren Nagase stars as Aki Onoda, a bar part-timer known for impulsiveness due to communication challenges. Ryōta Bandō plays Ryō Sobue, a proactive rookie real estate agent who assumes a mentor-like role among his peers. Kentarō Maeda portrays Yūta Inohara, a design student grappling with personal insecurities.

Director Tatsuyuki Nagai, known for "anohana: The Flower We Saw That Day," "The Anthem of the Heart," and "Her Blue Sky," leads the creative team at CloverWorks. Mari Okada, acclaimed for "Maboroshi" and "Maquia: When the Promised Flower Blooms," crafts the script, while character designs are handled by Masayoshi Tanaka.

Aniplex collaborates with Story Inc. on production and TOHO for distribution of "Fureru.". The narrative revolves around Aki, Ryo, and Yuuta discovering telepathic abilities after encountering Fureru, a creature from their island hometown's folklore.

"Fureru." promises to captivate audiences with its poignant storytelling and exploration of friendship amidst an urban backdrop, continuing the tradition of heartfelt narratives from the Super Peace Busters team.
